Host secondments DCUK9.

Prof. Ioan Ardelean obtained his Degree in Physics in 1989 at “Babeș-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He occupied the position of Assistant Professor (1990), Lecturer (1998), Associated Professor (2002), and then tenured Professor (2006) within the Department of Physics at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. In 1996 he had a 6-month DAAD research stage at Ulm University, Germany, in the group of Prof. Rainer Kimmich. In 1997 he got a PhD in Physics with a thesis related to the development of new nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques. He returned to Ulm University for two years (1999-2021) with an Alexander von Humboldt research fellowship. During this stage, he studied molecular dynamics inside porous materials and developed new investigation techniques based on radiofrequency gradients. In 2006 he founded the NMR Diffusometry and Relaxometry Laboratory, where later started investigations on porous media and cement-based materials.
