Georgia Flesoura

My name is Georgia Flesoura and I hold a PhD on Materials Engineering. I studied in the school of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), where I obtained my Bachelor and Master’s Degree, in 2016. During my bachelor and masters studies, I specialized in metallurgical processes and worked in Aluminum of Greece as a process engineer at the department of electrolysis. Beginning of 2017, I moved to Belgium to pursue my PhD on the beneficiation of municipal solid waste incinerator bottom ash (BA) via microwave irradiation and BA valorization in alkali-activated materials, at KU Leuven in the SREMat research group, within the ETN NEW-MINE project (i.e. H2020 Training Network on Enhanced Landfill Mining). During my PhD, I worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Valencia (Spain), University of Padova (Italy), University of Nottingham (UK) and Italcementi company (Italy). I worked for three years as a post-doctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Metallurgy at NTUA, in Technologies for Sustainable Metallurgy (TesMet) group on hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes development, out of which end-materials used in construction were delivered. Since October 2023, I am working at TITAN Cement Company, as a Cement Hydration Expert in Group Research, Innovation and Development Department.
